big anti-war demo at university of california, santa barbara today!
i was off campus for a conference of non-profit organizations & area foundations. if i wasn't, i would have joined the anti-war strike at ucsb, which by some accounts involved upwards of 1000 participants, one of the largest actions of its kind in over 15 years.
i found this posted on a facebook group called "'peace out university - student strike against war.'" it was credited to a jon hellam.
there were apparently 26 other college & university campuses that had strikes, walkouts, boycotts, & rallies planned to protest the war, imperialism, & military ties to american universities.
this shot shows students on the highway 217 that feeds into the east campus off of the 101 freeway: a fairly sizeable act of civil disobedience, for what it's worth (although i don't know how long it went on for).

here's hoping the example continues to grow & creates political pressure on both parties to turn back the tide.
